Default 2003 or 2004 500i?

Been looking at both years and most dealers are saying the 2004 improvements are worth it. That 2003 price tag looks good though. Would you spend the money for the '04 or save the money and get a '03?

Get the '04. The extra goodies (i.e. 2" receiver), and a real speedo are worth the money. Personally, I couldn't dump good cash on a '03 and still look at that fugly exercise speedo they mounted on the handlebars.

save your money and get the 03 model, itll do the same thing the 04 will do! personally i like using the lever for 2wd/4wd engagement. i really do not look at my speedo all that much, oh yea with 28inch outlaws it isnt very accurate anymore! by the way no-one offers an exhaust for the 04's yet ! but the decision is all yours!

Get an '04 guy, you will be much happier down the road. Its more refined and most importantly the axles will last longer...lol. The '02 and '03 models have axle problems with bigger tires and aggresive driving. The 04's so far are better but they have yet to really prove themselves either.

They also changed the brakes, on the 04 the foot brake should work. Does the 04 500i have the wider fenders like the 650? How much difference in cash between the two? I agree the speedo is ugly and the receiver hitch would be handy, but how much is it worth to you?

How much difference are we talking here?
The updated brakes is the only thing that makes the 04 worth looking at.IMO If you purchased the parts from a/c to upgrade your foot brake it would be over $500. Axles on the 03 would be coverd by warranty and the rest of the upgrades are nice but no big deal to me. Just my .02.

Axles will be covered under warranty for only 6 months unless you get the extended warranty and then its up to the dealer if he will warranty the axles after the 6 months. Get an '04 and have peace of mind and the nice extra features.

I have an 03 500i with 28 inch outlaws on 4 corners and have not to this day broken an axle! (knock on wood) and if you do break an axle on the 03 model the dealer should replace the defected axle with an 04 axle! but once again its your money and not mine!
