traded my 500 for a 400
#1
I just traded my 1999 Scram 500 4x4 for a 2000 scram 400 2x4(sport). I also had a hpd pipe and clutch put on the new scram. I am very surprised at how much more fun to ride the 2 stroke is. When you hit the gas, hang on, cause holy shiznit this thing will go. Also the new quad is only 50 pounds lighter, but it feels more like 100 puonds lighter. The peppy engine with the pipe and clutch will lift the front end effortlessly. Matter of fact I hit the throttle REAL hard to lift the front during my first ride, and ended up on my gluteus maximus (***). I guess I was trying to ride it like the 500. You have to give the 500 full throttle and keep it there to wheelie.
This quad feels alot light and more powerful jumping too. I really don't know how much faster the modified 400 is than my old 500, but the fun factor is much higher due to the peppy engine.
I will admit I used to be a little envious of 400 owners. I guess I thought my 500 was faster than it really was. Now I have converted to the 2 stroke, and I love it.
It is a little harder to control in the woods, especially riding slow with a group, but thats Ok.
I hope I don't miss my 4 wheel drive.

You wouldn't believe what those 2WDs will go through. With their power and high ground clearance, they'll go just about anywhere. I rode with 22 bikes last weekend, all but 4 were 4x4. We were going through some level 5 crap, and when it was my turn to go through, everyone sat there shaking their head. I'g get a little momentum, hit the mud, and power right through. Then I would help my buddies dig their Warriors out.
