I would like to know the differences of 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive for my rancher, or just any utility. How will it perform? Will it be able to power slide better and throw more dirt? Will it affect acceleration? And how so? I would like to know the changes I will notice, good and bad. Please give me any thoughts u have or knowledge u have about this. Thank u for any answers.

 

with 2wd u can powerslide and throw alot of dirt, with my dads 4x4 it is really hard to throw dirt. on a 2wd it it like 2x easier to wheelie if not more. if u want to ride mud then 4wd is better

 

see now more information like that would be helpfull, i was gald to hear that because thast just what i was thinking but i really wouldnt know for sure, if any of you have any more info to back that up, i would be glad to know anything and everything.

 

sterring may be a little tougher...umm acceleration MAY improve because if it is in two wheel drive your tires may spin...and 4 wheels spining provides more traction.

 

Ok, that’s good news but more about power sliding, I can do that now but I have to try my hardest and I do through a good amount of dirt just not very far or high. Will that change with 2-wheel drive, and by how much. Also, would I be able to make a 270 degree turn while power sliding, what I mean is like if u slide around 180 degrees your facing were u came from but keep going 90 more degrees would that be possible if i have 2 wheel drive. Basically will i be able to do doughnuts on dry dirt with 2-wheel drive, even with a heave utility? I would like to hear any thoughts about this that u may have. And sorry for that extensive description (not trying to bore you, ya know[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img])

 

I would never buy a quad without selectable 4wd-2wd, in 4wd mode it is great in slick conditions and places 2wd quads would never try to venture. But 2wd mode is the sport aspect of the sport utility and mine power slides very well.

 

The amount of degrees you go around will depend on power and what gear you are in. (Also, the terrain) If you put a 424 on your Rancher it should make the ride sportier but don't expect miracles.
I can do 360's or donuts while in 2 wheel drive but definitely not in 4 wheel drive. (with my Foreman)

 

what miracles shouldnt i acspect there, Coyotechaser? and exactly how much sportyier will it make it? oh yeah flat ground with very loose dirt (jsut sitting there) and rocks. that would be the terrian, i dont really know what else terrian i could be talking about, btu yeah loose dirt

It should help make the steering a little easier and allow you to play. I used to do donuts just about anywhere with my Warrior. I have to be a little more picky with my Foreman because it's so darn big and heavy. So now I watch out for roots, rocks, whatever and the amount of space I need.

 

i know what u mean about rocks and roots, cuzz i can do doughnuts to but only when the dirt is really wet or mudy. i also have to whatch out for rocks and roots too but i normally just hit them and bounce around a little so im not really afraid of where im doing them. but come ot think of it i only have one place where i can do doughnuts. lol. what about throwing roosts, will 2 wheel drive help with that?
