It seems to me that getting new gears from Fortin is next to impossible for the Raptors. I was wondering if there was still a need for after market gears and who would be interested? I have talked with a local gear shop and they told me they would make them.

 

I have heard from my motorcycle shop that Randy Pinion and Gear might or may have made gears for Raptor. But I am not sure about that. This was while back like earlier this yr when my tranny blew up whie on Glamis trip of FSW2.

The reason I am asking is that I have had a motor torn down for over a year now and I would rather put after market gears in it since I am having the rest of it done right with all the goodies. I would thing the guy who has it at his shop would like to have the bench space as well. I keep calling for gears and get told a new date each time and was really hoping to have the gears.

 

Garyc just blew out his set of Fortins a few days ago. I wouldn't go that route unless you don't mind going back into the tranny again. Stick the 02 gears in it and not worry about it anymore.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

If they could make the 01 ratios with 4 engagement dogs between 2nd and 4th gear wheel I think they would sell. The drag racers say they love the 01 trans ratios but I havent seen anything other than opinion on that. Otherwise the OEM 02 trannies have held up great aside from a few unfortunate breaks. I like the 02 ratios better for what I do.
