For anyone that has an antivibe Lonestar steering stem I have a question... the bottom half of the clamp is two pieces which attach into the cylinders in the sides of the top of the stem. There are 2 rubber housing type spacers that cushion the handlebars (thus the antivibe). How tight should I tighten the bottom bolts on the clamp? The tighter I tighten them the more compressed the rubber spacers become... Should I tighten them as tight as they will go or will this compress the rubber spacer too much and defeat the anti vibration characteristics of the clamp or even damage the spacers?

Oh one other thing the top of the clamp can be bolted on frontwards or backwards... the cradle for the bars are centered so it seems like it doesnt matter and I've seen it done both ways. Does this make a difference which way it goes? Since only one side of the clamp says Lonestar, it seems they are giving you a choice on how to display their name... LOL seems like a dumb question but as you can tell, the stem didn't come with any instructions.

 

I just got an email back from Lonestar and this is what they said if anyone else has ever wondered....


"Tighten the squish bolts just until there is no play in the clamp. Most
people run the dog bone forward so you see the text."
