My bike just got the 160 jet put in. And it runs fine until about 3/4 to full throttle if you gun it for about 4 seconds straight it will start to die. And takes a while to start back up. Could it be the fuel mixture screw they said turn it out 3 and a half turns. BUt i dont no how far it is turned out when it is stock. If i can figure this out im buying a differt carb that is prejetted. Oh crap almost forgot my bike has a hpd pipe kand n filter hsp clutch kit. And alot of steering stuff

Stevie,

The carb is controlled from 3/4 to WFO by the main jet. Unless you main is REALLY rich, you shouldn't be having a problem, but this sounds like it is a rich condition. Go to a leaner main jet and it might solve the problem. It sounds like your main jet is choking out the engine.

Try to run your engine at 3/4-WFO throttle with the choke on. If it runs better then the jet is too lean. If it runs worse or dies, the jet is too rich.

It could also be unrelated to your main jet size. If your fuel flow is restricted by a clogged fuel filter or strainer in the tank it could be starving the motor for gas. This would show up mostly at higher rpm when more fuel is needed. After an extended wide open throttle you may be draining the carb bowl faster than fuel can flow back into it. Make sure to check the flow by disconnecting the fuel line and opening the valve and let it run into a container. It should flow freely. It would be a good idea to double check your float level too. If these things are ok then go back to jetting. I dont know what the stock jet was but if it ran better with that then it does now go back to that and try smaller steps to get it right.
Good luck let us know what you find!

it could be stuff in your tank.

I have to share this sometime!

On my way home from work today, the owner of the local polaris shop where i trade my trailblazer in for the blaster. Seen me and stopped me and asked me if i had ever had the tank off of my trailblazer. He said there was all kinds of change at least $10, then he said there was those little bubble blowers in it.

He said the guy was riding it and it just quit on him.

I have no idea how that stuff got in there. Must of been the other owners. Because i have no brothers or sisters to do that kind of stuff. But what confuses me is i've had that tank off at least 15 times.

I just thought i'd share that.

Stevie..that could be your problem..!

A friend of mine had a similar problem on his express 300 it turned out that the needle fell off and was stuck in the seat. Its worth checking out.
