Winter is coming Raptor must hibernate

Well it's getting cold and it's time to put the Raptor away for the winter.
I don't see any point in using it this winter I would much rather ride my 4X4 in snow.
I was wondering if any of you guys put your quads away for the winter and what you do to them before you store them.
I was going to chagne the oil and check the coolent to make sure there isn't too much water in it so it won't freeze anything else that should be done?

My Raptor will be thinking of your Raptor when it's blazing across the desert this winter.
But hey, at least you still have the 4X.

Riding in the snow in the East is great on the Raptor.....just can't travel in more than 7-8" of snow...

But you can only ride part of the year due too the heat of the sunny weather + have too deal with red sticker / green sticker BS (another way too bleed money out of people) + will eventually loose all riding areas unless something changes. What would one expect from a state that may elect Mr Ed (the horse) or a cartoon character next election?

BTW, I was talking of Cali state leadership and not about the common people... I certainly would not ride alone...a breakdown out in no-where in blazing heat seems too claim lives every year on the west coast.

-Fill your tank and add some fuel stabilizer to it.
-pull the battery and put it in a warm place (charge it halfway through winter).
- put an oily rag in the exhaust pipe - close off airbox (critters love airboxes).
-lube any moving part.
-lower your tire pressure and put the quad on a crate or stand.
last but not least....get ready to unwinterize it a little more than halfway through winter when you get the itch to run it again

Yea, I figured you were only talking about the politics and you're right....they are screwed up.
I do ride alone sometimes in the desert but I always carry water and a cell phone. I know the areas I ride in very well but it is still risky. I'm not so worried about breaking down....I'm more worried about getting injured and becoming buzzard food so I tend to take it easy more when riding alone. I live by the huge Joshua Tree National Park and there seems to be someone that gets rescued or killed every year from getting stranded in the heat. That's the desert.

Hybernation is for Fat animals. i stud them up and hit the ponds....when it gets really cold, i can ride on 4 ft of snow with no problem. all year round for my raptor. i love the winter... no mud...no dust...no rocks....no changing air filters....ride allday.
hell, ride all month and the quad never gets dirty. NH and Mainards are a little diffrent. it's even common to see dudes on their dirt bikes in the trails and on the ponds.
i quess it's the closest i'll get to riding Dunes....there are alot of similarities between snow and sand.
