Here's my scenario....after riding my quad around awhile I have recently started noticing a oil burning smell...... The quad runs great.... What problems could the smell of burning oil mean? Thanks.

 

What general area is the smell coming from?

 

I havnt been able to determine that but when im just sitting there on the quad idling I can catch a whif of it. But then when I try to go down and smell around I cant find it[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] I just changed the oil and filter right before our ride so I know the oil isnt bad.

 

Have you checked your airbox for oil? Also, not sure if you're running the CFM oil tank, you need to idle the motor before checking the level....it drains back into the case.

 

I dont have an airbox. I have a k&n breather attached to my vent hose but I know its not coming from there cuz I dont see any visible signs of oil coming outta it. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

when you changed to the oil do you think you coulda got a lil on the motor or something that gets hot to make it burn and smell... just a lil like you say?

The oil smell is coming from your breather, if you had an airbox the engine would inhale it so you wouldn't smell it.

 

hes had the clamp on for a while tho... and never smelt it before... and i dont smell oil with mine..

 

Like Hozed said I've had the clamp on since about the time I got it...but I've never smelled it before. I know I didnt get any oil on the engine so It cant be that. Another thing even though I dont know if it has anything to do with it is that while ridiing I found that there were times I wouldnt be able to shift into 4th and it would kinda get stuck.
