Ok, Here's my problem. I've putted some synthetic car oil in my quad [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img] . Yeah I Know [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

My clutch is now slipping bad. I rode it like that for about 3 hours. Then my mechanic told me that the oil was making my clutch slip. Is it true?

Now, I drained it totally. I'm going to put some cheap oil in it, ride it for about 30 minutes then drain it again. Then I'm gonna put some good winter oil in it and a new oil filter. Is it still gonna slip or the damage are not repairable?

PUT YOUR CHEAP OIL IN AND SLIP THE CLUTCH A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE GETS UP TO TEMP. TRY TO WEAR SOME OF THAT SYN. OFF YOUR CLUTCHES. DONT KNOW FOR A FACT IF THIS WILL WORK BUT ITS WORTH A TRY.

You might try a couple of quarts of Valvoline ATV oil, it has friction modifiers in it for the clutch. I have read where a lot of people have run synthetic oils and found it not to effect there clutch, hope all it is just the oil.

 

Mine was really affected since it only started slipping JUST after putting that oil in it

try getting a bottle of "engine flush", that might help

 

Drain the oil and take cover off. If your careful and let oil drain awhile you can reuse gasket. Sand the surfaces of the clutch discs.

 

you really dont need to sand tha klutch diskz but if you insist on dong that, you may or may not be able to re use tha gasket, depending how it comes off, sometimes it stays on tha cover or the case, other times it sticks to both and rips but if you get lucky and it sticks to one or the other, all in on piece, you will have to clean it with a good solvent, carb cleaner works fine and then some RTV gasket maker to provide a good seal between tha gasket and aluminum.

 

My little brother has been using mobil synthetic in his 400ex for a couple of years now with no problems.
