scrambler battery won't hold a charge
#1
Could it be my battery is going to crap? can someone tell me how to check the electrical to see if the engine is charging the battery while it is running?........I am not sure if I have a bad battery or a bad electrical system......

For me my starting problems have been the battery 4 of 5 times. 1 bike, 1 sled, 1 atv, 1 car and had a car where it was the voltage regulator.
While running at about 200 rpm's you should have about 14.4 volts on the battery but if the batt is bad enough it could load the charging system and make it liook like charge is not good. Battery is normally the cheapest route.

upnort, did you mean 2000? I think you did. Skratch, how old is the battry? I have had them go better than 3 years without a problem. But if it's questionable at all the battery is probably the culpirt. The regulators tend to be pretty stout pieces.

try filling it back up with distilled water then charge it and try again. if you test it with low water it will show a charge but wont hold a load. just an easy fix if this is the problem
