Opinions on 400 Prairie 4X4
#1
I've found a pretty good deal on a 2001 400 Prairie. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions or experiences with this machine for good or ill? I mainly trail ride and lately we have been riding some tougher stuff and I feel the need for 4 wheel drive. Any replies would be appreciated!

BK,I still own my 98 P400 and it was the first ATV I have ever owned and it is very reliable. There isn't much that ATV can't go through. I had 2 of my friends on it with me,riding on a frozen pond with 6 inches of snow on the ice and it plowed along and did spins and didn't get stuck once.

you only get 24000kms out of one set of rings... LOL I had one; would buy an other in a minute you can not beat it put the warn 2x4 switch on it. It was so good they had to stop selling them. If it lasts 3 years for me, (I had the 98 version) it will last most people a life time!

I love mine, it has been ultra reliable, could tow whatever you want, and is faster than most other 400 class bikes I run with. Too bad they dont make a 424 device for it, Warn said it wouldnt fit the 400, only the 300 would fit. But, I can still throw the tail end out sideways on loose stuff with plenty of power to spare. The only thing I really want to upgrade is my rear wheels to the 12" rims and some better tires. I also have no idea why they went with a 360 and quit making the 400.....

We've had ares since 1997 and we love it. It was the first bike that we ever owned.
It is super reliable and we have made it home every time we go out. Infact it has towed
my 650 home 3 different times now when i was having my overheating problem. It has
a 1.5" lift, white clucth spring and 27" mudlites. It will go anywhere that i go and then some.
Hope this helps. JUST MY 2 CENTS
