looking to wire a cigratte lighter 400ex

i spliced my "wheelie lights" to the black/silver spotted wire coming off the voltage regulator (aluminum dealie with fins behind tha battery) with a quick connecter from autozone, works great!

You can wire directly off the battery for best power output, use at least a 12 gauge wire, and put a 10 amp fuse in line(or whatever the compressor is rated for). then pick a spot out of the way and mount a marine type cig lighter (it has a watertight flip cover) and you will be ready to roll. if you put it near the handlebars, you could use it to power a gps for long rides,or other auxiliary items.

The headlights are only rated for 30 - 60 watts, I think you would probably fry something if you tried to tap into the lighter wires used for the headlights, a compressor pulls a good amount of amps, especially when first starting up, so I would stick to coming off the battery with heavy wire directly (don't forget a circuit breaker or fuse.) make sure the fuse is close to the battery, so any damage to the hot wire that may short it out will kill the power near the battery, and not leave the wire hot where it can short on the frame.

My wife's Prairie came with one built in and I blew the fuse on it the first time
I used it trying to connect a air compressor to it. It was just one of those
small air pumps, I cant remember what size fuse it was, but I guess it not
ment for any real use other than lighting cigarettes
