Do you have a winch installed?
#1
After getting stuck this weekend on my Rincon I've decide that a winch is a must. Would you go with a Ramsey 2500 or a Warn 2500? I had a Warn 2000 on a Kodiak when they had the deal buy a new ATV and get a winch it seemed like a good deal. I can get the Ramsey 2500 for $200 vs the Warn 2500 at $300.
Which would you install on the Rincon?

Personally, I am thinking of going with the Warn 3000 and the aluminum products skid/mounting plate on my Rincon. Seems to be a good combination. However I am having trouble finding a bumper that I like that will work with this skid plate.

03, I bought a set of PIAA lights on Ebay for $60 for my Rincon. Did you ever get one of those top lights from HighLifter like the Foreman has? I'm looking forward to installing them.

A winch is a must for any 4x4 type ATV (assuming the rider plans to get into situations where 4x4 mode is necessary, after all, what fun would it be if you didn’t!). Good idea to include a ****** block and at least a 4’ section of chain or strap to wrap around a tree or another quad as well.
I haven’t had much experience with the different winch brands (I have a Warn 2000 on my Grizzly via the same route that you did with your Kodiak). However my only experience with a Ramsey was on another ATV I was riding with and they were having trouble with it (sounded like there was grit in the bearings or something as it was making a scratching sound when turning). This winch was nearly new and before that particular day was out the winch was pretty much useless. I believe the owner was going to take it back for a warranty fix. This is not to say all Ramseys are that way, this was my only experience with them (the remote control feature is nice though)...

Wolveriner, no haven't bought the highlifter light yet. Looks like you would have to drill a hole to mount it and I wasn't sure I want to do that just yet to a brand new Rincon. Congrats on your lights!!! Hope they work out for you!

Get the Warn. The parts are readily available and fairly inexpensive if you ever need to fix your winch. I rebuilt the whole inside of mine except the motor but including the spool shaft for under $100 canadian and had all the parts mailed whithin a week.

03, I'm not going to do any drilling Where the front rack mount bolts down, I'm going to mount a piece of 1/16" flat bar steel to the bottom, and it will run across to the other side. Everything is going to look neat and clean. I will post a picture as soon as I get it finished. They are those 35 watt bulbs that put out 55 watts. That will mean I will be running a total of 190 watts of lights, but only pulling 150 watts off of the alternator with the factory 40 watt lights.

I have a warn 2000, and it works great. I also have the snatchblock accessory kit for when I'm really stuck. My bike never left the showroom floor without a winch. If your making your own mounting plate, mimic the factory plate used by Warn. They have engineered it to a certain location on the frame for many reasons. Make your plate similar and your'll be in good shape.
I think I'd buy the warn 3000 if I were to buy a new winch, seems like a nice product, and you can nevver have too much pulling power.
