Default curtis sparks z-400 & air mods

Has anyone gotten the curtis sparks exhaust system on there z yet?. Currently my bike Is stock for now, but is was wondering If the full exhaust system would be to much. My future mods will be aluminum air box and jets. An if so what was your seat of the pants gain. Im really trying to bust some v-force a$$.

I'm hoping to get a curtis sparks pipe for my dvx 400. My brother has a curtis sparks pipe on his 400ex and he loves it. He had a big gun and it was a nice pipe butwith the mods he has the sparks pipe gave him more power. I talked to curtis and his complete system is 450

Christoblue, z-400central members get 10% off prices through woodward specialties I think And I believe there price for the complete curtis sparks pipe is 419 shipped. Also what mods does your brother have Also I keep hearing about A base plate and gaskets for the z supposed to be for the 400 bike but it gives the z extra compression can anyone elaborate on this.

I haven't heard about the thin gaskets for the z, but you can shave the jug. I checked my clearances an took off .030 from mine. I don't think your going to get that much from a gasket. This is just another option.

yea the DR-Z base gasket is considerably thinner because the dirtbike runs on higher comprasion... it will raise your compresion.. is a good idea for the price.. like what 10 bucks MAX... ive done alot of research on this topic also.. you can take my word for it..

It's acutally the DRZ-E/Kick base gasket you want. If you get the DRZ base gasket it's the same as the LTZ. Anyway it bumps the base compression from 11.3:1 to 12.2:1. It's about $30 for the gaskets required. My recommendation if your going to trouble to tear it down for a gasket you might as well spend $100 and get a 13.5:1 piston. Yes you would have to run race gas where as the DRZE base gasket only requries preimium but the power difference is noticeable as well.

Isittingbull, my brother has a 99 400ex with a 416 piston and a port and polish with a stage 3 cam, hardened rockers, new valve springs, 39mm carb and +2 a-arms. I took the spark arrestor out of the pipe and took off the air box lid and rejetted to a 142 on my dvx 400. I got my 13 tooth front sprocket last night and I have a pro-design with hi flow filter on the way. Just doing the pipe mods and the rejet made a really big difference.

I just put a Sparks pipe on my KFX400, Im happy with the results. Gave it that extra "umph" and made it less girly

Thanks for the info jeffp, I went to my local Suzuki/Honda dealer today, the guy keep telling me the drz and 400 gasket was identical, guess he was right. Im going back this Friday,I just bought my nephew a 250 recon . This time I will ask for the DRZ-E kick base gasket. But for the compression increase im looking for I just thought it would go well with an aftermarket pipe and air mods. Plus we do alot of trail riding/racing.

What were the jetting recommendations with the Sparks...and did you go with the X-4 or the X-6...My wife wants a Sparks pipe real bad but I am NOTgonna waste my money on a dynojet kit when I can buy a jet from a dealer for like 5 bucks.
