Ultimate LT80 Setup for TT/MX Style racing
#1
What would be the ULTIMATE setup for making the LT80 into the King of the TT/MX Track? Right now my sons LT80 has an FMF Fatty Pipe with Power Core 2 Silencers, K&N Airfilter in the Stock Airbox, 18X8X9.50 Turf Tamers on the Rear, JL Lucky Front end Extenders on the Front with the stock tires, Thinking of putting Works Shocks on the Front and Rear, AC Racing Nerf Bars, AC Racing Front Bumper, ??? KX60 Renthal 7/8" Handlebars with Twist Throttle, later maybe Engine and clutch mods. Any ideas on making it into the ULTIMATE little quad?????

You have a good start already, but it want be the king til you do the clutch mods. As for as the handlebars and twist throttle, i personally do not care for twist throttle, not exactly sure what brand but we have aftermarket bars and the only draw back is with the heavier bars when the quad is turned over and lands hard on the bars the bars do not bend but the steering stem does.

Unless your racing in the stock class your not going to be competitive unless you do some major engine work. Port & polish, milled
head, big bore kit, cdi box, etc. Shocks are a must have for either TT or MX. But the setups for each one are totally different. Folks who
race both TT and MX run two different quads because the setups are so different. And the "kings" of the track are running quads in
$10,000 - $15,000 range.

Whoa baby! I have to straighten this out.
Yes you will need a motor kit. Yes the set-up is different, but it's only tire and gearing changes.
10-15K~~ thats the mod 90 class. I think this is what livin4real thinks you are building.
No big-bores (they only help the TRX 90's anyways).
I'd think on the twist throttle! I had them on my daughters racers, now she won't race w/o a twist. I think this has attributed to some race crashes.
I will respond to your PM.

Well all this is good and dandy but you still need a properly trained and confident rider. All the power in the world won't help you here. I've been spanked before by people with Waaaaayyy less power than me but know how to make the package work........ Quite humbling......
