Other than changing the oil/ oil filter and greasing the chain.....what other things need to be done to keep my scrambler performing good? I know about changing the front differential oil and what kind of oil should be ran in that?? Thanks.

For the front diff, and GL5 synthetic 80w-90 gear oil will do. The trans oil need to be changed every oil change, as well as the hub fluid. The coolant needs to be changed every 2 years. Check you belt and radiator hoses every once in a while. Also, blow the dust out of the clutches every now and then. The chain needs to be adjusted when it goes out of spec too. And the valves need to be adjusted every 100 hours. Also, drain the sediment tube in the air box and drain the recoil/starter housing.

Greasing the chain? I would not use grease thinhgs stick to the chain and that is not good... After each ride i scrub the chain with dish soap and a fine brush, then i use compressed air to blow it off and oil it with used motor oil and not much sticks to my chain...you should adjust your chain as needed to much play is bad and you dont want it to tight eather.. In the front gear case i use 80-90 gear oil any GL-5 gear oil will work... Valve to rocker clerance is very important every 100hours, You will needed a service manual for that i would strongly suggest you get one... Just cleck all your fluids change when its needed.... Grease all your fittings... Check your brake fluid and most polaris quads needed the rear brakes bleed a few times a year...
Did you find out how to prime the oil pump?
You do not have to remove that line at every oil change, I do it twice a year.... As long as you dont remove the line there is no need to prime the pump...

Hey Trailrider, you may be interested in this product. I use it and it works very well to get the gunk off the chain. It is called the Uneek Chain Scrubber. Rocky MT ATV carries it for $20

Well what I do is whenever it needs to be lubed up I'll wash chain and sprocket off ( get all the mud out and everything) then take a rag and dry it off really good. Then I'll get out a foam brush and some bar and chain oil and put that on my chain and on the sprockets real good and take it maybe a round up and down the driveway real slow to let the oil get in all the crevices and then I'll let it set all night and by morning its usually dried. This seems like a good way to keep it from rusting and keep it lubed as well, it always worked good on my warrior.....do you think I'm doing the wrong thing by doing this?
