Lake hill does sell at that ($5999) price. Abernathy's in Union City TN sells them for $6050 OTD. I was going to buy from Abernathy's but they didn't have a Blue one in stock (nor did Lake Hill) and neither knew when they might get one -"sometime in December....maybe? I pick mine up from a local dealer tomorrow.
I got my Blue one for $6600 OTD and this includes Illinois state sales tax (I now will have a title). I paid a little more but... local dealer i.e. IF I have problems......& I don't have to drive 8 hours round trip.......I now will have a title so if I ever want to trade it in at a dealer I won't be screwed.....and did I mention......I GOT BLUE!

where exactly do you live? Bardwell Yamaha in Brookhaven has the same prices as Lakehill and may be a shorter drive. I have bought 2 bikes from Bubba and recommend him to anyone! They are about 120miles from the New Orleans area. My wife has family all along I55 so it's no big deal for me to go up that way
email or call Bubba. No taxes either, until you have to register it. No paperwork or setup fees. He quoted me 6400 for my first one with a winch (not the free one) and that is what I paid.

All this is good info. I got mine like 3 weeks after they came out in 2001. Everyone around here wanted over 7K for them, but I drove 240 miles to Jonesboro, AR and got mine for $6400. Not bad for the first month of production. You would be better off to just go to there website and do a dealer search. Then call them up and get some prices and drive a little ways. Even $50 in gas and a day spent is worth saving between $500-800.
