Rincon only has 16 HP!

Going by HMF Engineerings site. http://www.hmfengineering.com/hondarincon.html
Is this true? I figured it would have been much more. Has anyone put an aftermarket pipe on their Rincon? If so how did it perform?

i could see that being true though.it has to go threw he tranny..and with the right gears 16hp at the rear tires could be about right...a rincon is about a even race with a blaster in a drag..what do figure they push for stock ponys.? I owned a rincon for 3500 miles and its not the fast..nothing like my new prarie is..which i belive has 52 rwh..so i dunno?

I am not too confident in those numbers. But, the Rincon is strange. Mine has a MBrp pipe, jet kit, and K&N and I raced in the Mud Nations Utility Drag Race. There were several modified P650s and Grizzlies. Most with exhaust systems, clutch mods and jetted. The top 6 quads were all withing 1 lenght of each other and maybe even closer to 2 feet from each other at 200 FT. The SP700 and the Grizzly that were in the running had lightweight young kids - 100 lbs or so. The Grizzly won first place; however when the kids father ran me the day before, we were basically tied or i might have pulled him very slightly. BUT, it came down to the start all day.
Now, that being said, where you can tell the lack of ***** on the Rincon is in the mud under a load. While the SP700s and P650s, and to a lesser extent the 660s will spin tires crazy, the Rincon is weak under a load.

greg, I'm going with you on this one. I will put my Rincon up against ANY 16hp quad. I have no worries about beating them. Doesn't the 300ex have 16hp? I have beat them plenty of times, even when I was stock! Making this 600lb quad move this fast takes more than 16hp and however much torque they say it has. I am pretty confident that mine could keep up with a mostly stock P650 also, according to some 300ft times I compared with a guy who had a slightly modded P650. So they evidently aren't putting out much more power than a Rincon if any.

Automatic trannys have a way of confusing some dynos. I can remember when the 400 Polaris engine made 35 HP, yet had only like 13 or 15 according to the dyno.
Some dynos read HP by measuring wheel speed, and then increasing the load. An auto tranny will 'downshift' slowing the wheels down, making the dyno 'think' it has run out of power, when the engine hasn't pulled down at all.
