how to get ex bearings out of carrier?
#1
I know everyone knows about this and probably isn't stupied like me and actually, got a new carrier that is double rowed, but man I figure they use the SAME design on 250r's and 400ex, my 300'y can pooch a new housing, with new bearing too quick can it? Yes, yes it can a good 8 rides later POOCHED only the sprocket side, but I had some extra bearings lying around, so I ripped it apart, now I am wondering how the heck to get the bearings out of the carrier? The last time I did this it was too late the carrier was chewed to heck. Does anyone know, that could help me out? I messed with it for and hour or so and decided to give up for the day and ask!!!please help
I have a honda service manual for it I know the way they come out I just don't know what to use to get them out?
NO WING NO PRAYER

I heat the carrier in the oven for about 30 minutes on 200-250. Then I use a screwdriver with a bent tip to knock the bearings out form the opposite side. The sleave will move around to give you a getter shot at the bearings.
You are probably dragging the rear breaks. The heat the brakes generate is what usually causes bearings to wear out. Try riding with your foot farther out on the peg, or raise the brake pedal. I used to have this problem and I never realized I was doing it until I got a solid rotor.

I used to use the oven but now I set the carrier in front of my torpedo heater or salamander or whatever its called and heat it up. Then I put a glove on pick up carrier and hit it on old 4x4 piece of wood and the bearing moves all the way to edge. It comes out easy at this point .
