i was just wandering what were the extra 2 strokes that 2 strokes don't have?

4 stroke engine:
1. intake stroke
2.compressions stroke
3.power stroke
4. exhaust stroke

which 2 don't 2 strokes have? and what causes them to rev higher?

A 2 stroke combines the power/exhaust as one stroke, and the intake/compression as the other stroke, so ever time the piston goes down it is making power (With a 4 stroke power is made every 2nd time)...It also does not have a cam, and valve train, which allows higher revs

Aha

the intake is possible by a reed valve and the piston creating a vacume. the exhaust is drawn out of the cylinder by the expansion chamber. the powerband is created by the stinger reflecting sound waves back towards the cylinder. two strokes lose some fuel/air mixture on there upstroke. the reflected sound waves push the fuel/air mixture back into the combustion chamber allowing more of the fuel/air mixture to be burned than normal. it's kinda like a supercharging effect.

The interesting engines are the rotary's. I would consider them a 1/3 stroke.

I like that new RX-8 too.

Rotary = good power in a very small engine. Would be interesting to see one small enough to go into a quad!

4 strokes are so much easier

1 stroke at a time! that is pretty sweet though, it kind of vacumms the mixture back up.
