My quess would be... The Rotax engine they used for the DS is basically a motorcycle engine retrofitted for an ATV. How many motorcycles do you see with reverse? Not many...
Reverse isn't that big of deal for me anyhow. If your stuck bad, chances are your going to need to get off the bike and tug it out of the muck anyway.
