Is 10W-40 oil to thick for winter?
#1
Just wondering if 10-40 oil is too thick for the motor in winter. I want to run the right weight oil but I don't want too thin either cuz I'm hard on $hit, or is 10-40 just fine?... It's about 5 below outside right now and will for sure be 10 below in the morning then warm up to no warmer than 30 all day and this is typical for all winter..... sometimes it's a little warmer and not much colder. I don't like to ride at all if it's colder than 20 and it's not gonna get no warmer than 40 till spring so someone who knows what's best let me know.. thanks.

The oil is fine, if you keep the bike inside and never has cold starts below 60 degrees I would stick with 20/50 but if it's cold I would not use anything thinner than 10/40 the oil 5/30 is used for most break-ins 95% all shops are going to say 20/50 summer 10/40 winter.

That's what I need to know. I said my temperatire conditions, and I need to know what's best for my motor. I do long WOT shots across the lake too if that makes a difference... Probably just stick with the 10-40?
