What is the correct technique to use to remove scratches, digs, scrapes and end up with a shine on plastic body parts? I have used polishing compound, 400 grit wet/dry paper, and lots of power buffing. Many of the body shops tell me they replace the damaged parts (fenders, side panels) with new ones. What can I do to fix them myself?

This is information that I have gotten from this forum and I have yet to use it but will try it before I buy new plasctic.
first thing is to heat up the plastic. I assume that a hair drier would be sufficient if using a blow torch..be careful. after heating and while still warm spray on furniture polish and rub in with a cheese cloth.
I hope that it is right. There are threads that can be searched to make sure. It was arouns April of this year. I think the topic was sticker removal.
