Default 1997 sport 400 jug

Can I use a 1995 sport 400 Jug on my 97? I cracked mine... dealer quoted me $400.00 for a new one. I can't see buying a new one when I'm just gonna bore it out anyway...

Thanks guys

I don't see why, did you brake the front lugs of the cylinder. If you did you'll need to get a head girdle. I broke the mine and needed a head girdle to keep the cylinder in place.

Ced's right forgot to say that Ritter fixed mine for around 150 I think and I put a head girdle on it at the same time, no problems since.

No, I didn't break the studs, The base of the Jug broke. right where the front 2 studs are. I "think" the front jug studs weren't torqued down tight enough
because when I went to take the jug off the front stud nuts i could take off with my hand. they were that loose.

the 95 jug will work but are not as strong as the 96 & up. They had problems with the 95 jugs & beefed them up. Some builders will not touch a 95 jug to build a racer motor & slap there name on it in fear of cylinder failure. just my 2cents worth.

Also like POLARISFREAK said just give rickritter or some other builders a call.

The big reason you dont want an earlier jug is because they dont have the sub-intake ports. For mild riding and what not it's OK, but for max power they lack a lot. You need to call Rick, he doesnt answer most of his e-mails but will always answer the phone. I dont have his number handy. Look up rittercycle.com Bubba
