Default Scrambler Clutch Kit

Spoke with a dealer today who said they could install a clutch kit and exhaust for me and not void the warranty. However, he did say that the clutch kit would not make the Scrambler as enjoyable to ride due to the fact the shifting of the gears would feel more like a "jerk" than a smooth transition. I would like the faster acceleration, but he said the Scrambler is plenty peppy without it. I know it comes down to rider preference, but any and all info would be appricated. Seems most of you have the kit, is it only because you like to pull wheelies??? I'm not ready for that, just fast sprints around the property and a few minor jumps. Thanks everyone!!!

All a clutch kit does is put your motor closer to it's powerband, higher stall=more rpm at take off. They do help in the acceleration of the bike once you give it a bit more throttle than before. It's hard to tell a diff when you don't really have any mods to the motor.Take for instance, when I bought my 02' scrammy 2-smoke it had a 1100 rpm engagement. Now since all the mods it has a 5000rpm engagement, and a top rpm of 7600rpm@72-75hp.All of this is JMO though.

How does the higher take off RPM's help/hurt when rock crawing or creeping up a hill? Seems to me it would make the quad harder to control, like it would try popping the wheels instead of just inching forward....

And what about just changing the primary spring?

Offrder shoot me a pm with your e-mail. You would NOT want to use a higher stall for rock crawling, way too dangerous.Just like Rook said it will cause the front end to rise rather quikly, not a good thing.Clutch kits are used for racing primarily, although they do offer them for mud bikes as well.Pin it and hold on..

You can just change the primary spring, but to get the full effect you need to change the rear spring to match the rate of the front. It is possible to slow the bike down if you don't match the spring rates, and weights also.

If you want an adjustable clutch kit that allows you to take off right off idle and crawl over rocks look into the heelclicker clutch kit, best kit for the money!

Rook, I have done a little rock crawing with my scram(hpd clutch kit) It does just fine the power only comes on really fast if you nail it.. If you go easy on the gas its fine the power comes on really smooth... As for hills same thing the only prob i have had is when going up a hill the quad may (bog) when you go to add more power you have to very careful if you go to fast or to much it does want to wheelie and go back on you because of the full up shift at high RPM.. I learned the hard way it bucked me right off, i was lucky the front end when back down and it did not roll but i have masterd it now just takes some getting use to... Over all the clutch kit is worth every penny you get power right away gets you up to your top speed fast... I really like mine...

Now that I think about it you can just as well put in 1-2 gram heavier weights. It will also lessen your stall. You won't have to give it as much gas to get over the same obstacle.Heavier weights =more clamping force.
