GNCC with a TB?
#1
When buying my quad, i had the idea that i was going to race some Gncc. I figured that tb's are not the fastes, but the guy sellin it to me said that the automatic trans. would really help in mud, hills, or turns on trails. So far all i have done is ordered an RcR stage one kit with a Hpd pipe (thanks to 2many, hes a savior!) Recently i found out what Gncc really is. Crap did i buy the wrong quad? Are there any races that are meant for smaller slower quads? I dont want to ride in the kids class, but the pred's, z and k 400's, raptors, and 400ex's will eat me alive. Any suggestions? thanks for your time!

Check with local dealerships, or just go in and look at their post boards. There are a lot of tracks that have novice, open class quad races. All you need is boots and a helmet around here, and you can race. So what if you get your a$$ handed to you. It's good experience. Who knows, maybe you'll get to kiss the trophy broad.

sweet, i never thought of that (really). I dont know why, but i had my mind set that all races, other then kids, was as ruff as the stuff i saw on tv. I might as well go to some of these races just to pick up some tips. Thanks

Yeah man go try it out. The only thing I would be worried about is if you dont make a hill on an automatic, you just freeroll back down.....no engine brake. I wouldnt let that stop you though if you wanna give it a try.

really? i was told that autos are much better on the hills because they dont have to let off the gas to shift. Will freeroling hurt my bike, being in gear and rolling the wrong way and all?

dude, listen, go out and try i race the "hillbillygp" i run beginner class, with alot of 400ex's, z's, and such and right now im 9th overall out of 30 some guys, go check it out www.hillbillygp.com.. i do have the smallest bike in the class, but i have alot of fun, and stick with the auto, mind you, on a wide open track you wont win, but in the tight woods, if you ride hard, you will catch the big boys asleep in the wrong gear, and your gone, passing the big dogs is the hard part, once around them make them work for it, and wear them out physically... that is how i do it anyway, anyway, go try, you will love it.

You won't just roll backwards if you use your brakes. Use the front brake to roll backwards. It applies more pressure on the front discs than the rear (the guys at Polaris new what they were doing). It won't hurt a thing on your bike, just your pride. If you have to at all.
