Default Scrambler 400 vs. 500

I have another question about on performance between the 400 vs. 500 scrambler. I ride my Banshee on dunes and around the farm. It's stock so I haven't had too much trouble with it. My question is which bike would be more reliable overall? I know there is less moving parts on a 2 stroke, but it seems like they require more attention to maintain. I guess a follow up question, would a 400 with a HPD pipe, standard clutch kit, and K &N be quite a bit quicker than a 500 with the same mods? Finally, I would like to get a 4x4. Are they considerably slower than a 2x4? Any info would be appreciated. This is a great forum.

I think that in the long run, the 500 would be more reliable due to its a 4 stroke. That doesn't mean that the 400 can be just as reliable with proper maintence. A modded 400 will beat a modded 500. The 2 stroke responds a lot better to mods. And the 4x4 wound slow you down by much.
