250R or YFZ?
#4
I was in the same situation a few months ago. Each have good and bad sides. You can get a complete race ready 250r(big bore kits, pro level suspension, aftermarket frame, etc.) that is pretty much like brand new for around $6000-$7000. The only thing you might have to do is have the suspension revalved. Or you can spend the same amount on a stock machine that you will have to put money into like shocks, a-arms,etc. and a simple pipe, filter, and cam mod would make it as fast as most big bore r's. One thing you have to look at is that the newest R you can get is 14 years old, so you really have no idea if it has been taken care of or not. You will also most likely have to run race gas through an R and have it rebuilt every couple years. Pretty much, its cheaper up front to get an R, but your going to be spending more money on it down the line maintance wise. Both are great bikes and its just a matter of preference.
