Polaris 700 vs Kawasaki 700
#1
Hi all,
I am in the market to buy a 700 four wheeler and have been debating between the Kawasaki and the Polaris. There are features between them that make each one unique.
For instance:
Kawasaki: 1) Nice factory brush gaurd 2) Enclosed braking system.
Polaris: 1) IRS system 2) True 4WD 3) Braided brake lines.
With the price not being an issue...could someone please comment on which of these units they would consider?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, the Polaris. J/k They are both great machines. And yes in the Polaris thread we are biased. I like the American made idea, and better torque and ride of the Polaris, well made, higher clearance, more towing capacity, true AWD, and now EFI. Yeah I'd say Polaris. One feature several people don't like is two wheeled EBS. I don't even have EBS so it's personal choice there. But Kawasaki is a little sportier, lighter, and well made.

I have a Sportsman 500 and a Prairie 700. Personally, I prefer the Polaris. Why? It's got a softer ride, more ground clearance, better riding position (it's more upright), and better AWD system. The Kawasaki does have a full front locker, but you have to hold a lever to keep it engaged. When you're in the boulders, and descending off-camber stuff, the Polaris seems more sure-footed. The Polaris suspension is incredible. The Polaris 700 has a 1,500 lb. tow rating. The Kawasaki is 1,200 lbs.
The Kawasaki has an awesome engine braking system, and a lot of horsepower. The Kawasaki weighs 602 lbs. The Polaris 700 is well over 700 lbs. Given that these are utility quads, outright speed isn't that important to me, but both machines will go as fast as I want. Gas mileage on 700 cc quads is pretty bad. Keep that in mind.
If I could own just one, I would take the Polaris.

Ummm...the Prairie has 'True' 4WD too, it just doesn't have a sticker on the side saying it. Has Diff. lock, is faster, sportier handling, better looks (IMO), wheelies with ease, and is just a blast to ride.
The Polaris has IRS, more GC, better factory tires, and a light on the handlebar. If you ride mostly in the mud, I'd go with the Polaris. If you like to ride you quad like a sport quad, get the Prairie.
Also, if you're considering these quads, is there a reason you're not considering a Grizzly? It's a nice compromise between the two 700 machines...OUT
