Default ice riding/sinking

I've been out on my pond with my ex everyday for the last week or so. It's been getting pretty warm around here lately, so the first time I go across it everyday I'll go ripping across at about 50. Well, today I was glad to be going that fast, I went flying across and the whole time the ice was cracking under me. Scared the s#!t out of me. dont think I'll be spinning on the pond for a while. anyone actually sank there quad (all the way under) while on ice?

i was riding my ozark on a pond with about 4 feet of water and a layer of 4 inch ice i got on top of it and was driving really slow finding out if the ice was strong enough to hold me and it was i took a couple runs on it not going to far so i can just drive back to land, after about 5 runs i was feeling ballzy and tried to go pretty much of on the ice pretty far and all of the sudden crack my front end was on the pond floor my back end was stil up there and i hit the gas slow and the back end fell it was over my fenders and over my pipe so i revved my engine i bit, im out, 40 feet from land with 4 inch thick ice all around me i have about 2 inches all around i had to get my dad to help me break a path back to shore, plus i had to walk 1/4 mile in drenched snowpants and a snow coat 2 times once with my bro and once with my dad then after i got it out i barley had anyu clothes on cause i had given up, my dad and i went back one more time to get it out we get it out and ive been in ice coldwater up to my bellybutton for about an hour and i have to ride it back to my house, that was the scariest moment ever on a quad, not because i was afraid about some one getting mad i was scared cause i couldnt get it out my self and i had to go and get my dad to help me and it took about 2 hours total to get it out and home, it was about 9 o clock too and about 34 degrees out, it was terrible

mx,

With which ex were you riding? The wife, girlfriend, or the bike ? Did you make them ride behind, while you rode ahead cracking the ice for them?????? Just kidding, thought your wording was funny.

That would scare the crud out of anybody, glad you made it across ok.

Funny you mention that. The second day i had my 400ex running with all the new mods decided to go sliding around on some ice in our mud pit. The ice was only about 2 inches thick but the water was only about 3 inches deep so i didnt have to worry about falling thru...So i thaught. I came sliding around a turn and all of the sudden i hear "CRACK" and the back end drops. Turns out i was right above a 12" deep hole, took about 5-10 minutes of tire spinning and ice cracking to get the quad out. After all this i pulled over to take a break, go to start the quad back up........nothing.......had to hotwire it to get it back home. Turned out i blew a fuse but the electrical system is still acting funny and still blows fuses, gonna sort it out today
