Honda Foreman Toe-In
#1
Has anyone noticed the toe-in setting being wrong on their Foreman? I have a 96 400 that was adjusted to the right amount, but was set for toe out instead of in. The service manual specifies 16 mm toe in with the wheels off the ground, mine was set for 15 mm toe out ! No wonder it was a bit twitchy at higher speeds.
After setting it correctly, the bike handles much better, turns tighter, etc. The wheels have to be off the ground to check it properly, because when the suspension is loaded with the weight of the bike, it is near zero, since the outer tie rod ends rise as the suspension compresses, decreasing the measured amount of toe in.
I talked with a friend who has a later version of the 450, and his was the same.
