Default What are some sighs that the rear axle/chain adj is not aligned?

Hi, I have a 03 Z 400 and I am trying to adjust the chain and it is driveing me crazy, what are some sighs that the the rear is not aligned properly? are the hash markets pretty close? where can I messure from? I think the front axle to teh rear axle has a few to many variables?

Also if I turn in a complete circle to the left the quad wants to tip more than if I turn in a circle to teh right. Thanks a a lot

when i had my LT250R it was easy to get the axle mis-aligned. the first signs are unusual sprocket wear, and the quad will pull to one side when on smooth, hard ground.
how i fixed it was making my own set of equal thickness shims that i would put between the axle housing & the back of the swingarm on both sides then using the adjuster to pull the axle back onto them. then i would check chain tension using a tie-down strap between the swingarm & grab bar to compress the suspension. it was kind-of a pain, but got it straight every time.

I used a milameter ruler and messaured the axle carrier to the back of the swing arm on both sides, I guess that is kind of like what you did right?
