What is the best 22" mud tire? I hear the super swampers are good, the sand tires umlimited mud machines were said to be the best alaround mud tire by dirtwheels.(or so there webpage says so) Blackwaters all so seem they could be good. Kenda Bearclaws i hear send the mud right ontop of you, and that maxxis sur tracks wear down fast. Realtors also look good but not as an all around tire. can anyone tell me wich is the best, including the tires i didn't mention. Cause they look good but wich is the best, I think dirtwheels or atv action should have a mud tire shoot out with the 22 inchers cause they only focus on the big 27 and now 28 inchers. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

You are having the same problem that I am having! I wanted to go up to a 23" mud tire for the Recon, but no body makes one! So I am still looking for a 22".

I am looking a the Sur Traks, Bear Claws. Many of our club members have the Sur Traks. I have seen many posts with the Bear Claws. Tough decisions

Super Swampers look good, and the blackwaters are supposed to be the best hardpack/mud tire you can get.

I have 22" Bandits on my Recon and they really work well. I am very happy with them.

Well, Bandits are not a pure mud tire, so they may not do as well in the mud as a dedicated mud tire. Bandits are a compromise between a performance tire and a mud tire. They are more suited to a variety of terrain, and will do well on hardpack as well as mud. I have read where their one shortcoming may be in loose, sandy soil.

In your opinion are they better in mud and sand than the stock rear tires for the recon??

Since I have 2 Recons, one with stock tires, the other with Bandits, and have ridden them back to back, I can say that the Bandits give MUCH better traction than stock in any conditions. If you search the forum archives, you will find that most if not all Bandit owners are very satisfied. These tires are extremely durable. If you choose the Kevlar (XC) belted version as I did, you will find that they are nearly puncture proof.
They are slightly heavier than stock tires, so what I did is put them on aluminum wheels. The Bandits on aluminum have virtually the same weight as the stock tires on stock steel rims
