You should port it and then bore afterwards to get rid of the burs in the ports. Only bore it .020 at a time. This will not give a performance increase. The porting will give it the most increase next to the pipe.

Who is going to do the porting? It is very critical that whoever does it knows what to do.

you can't really tell the diff with just a port job, dont get me wrong Porting helps but you need some mods to feel the the free'd up power that porting gives you. I suggest a bore an maby some cams than the motor will take the porting better . At least that is how i did it on my z400 which now has the 500 stroker kit in it by "four stroke tech" an the kit was only $1045 it came with piston, sleve, cams, all gaskets,an crank with longer rod. an ......WOW!!!!!!!! its one fast bike .

ya thats true sry i for got that most of polaris's bikes are two strokes in that case hell ya porting makes alot of diff ,an you can port them to hit at diffrent times for low, mid,or top end.

go with RCR, Bubba 297, or HPD. Bubba and RCR have the fastest turn around times.

I recently had the privlage to ride a Polaris 400 2x4 modified by aaen, my 400 4x4 with HPD pipe (w/ stock muffler), RCR air box mod and re-jet, runs with it. I mean this guy had over $2000 in Aaen motor work. Sadly, I was not impressed.
