Default Dirty Wheels at it again.

Had to take a minute and thumb through the new Dirty Wheels...wanted to see the comments on the new Honda. I'm really glad to see all these manufacturers stepping up and coming out with new gear, makes for some great choices....BUT! The little behind the scences jabs that this mag takes just cracks me up. "factory-like nuts and boltsall add up to make this one of the best detailed sport quads ever." O.k. does this mean that there isn't anyone out in the parking lot bolting your quad together? Is it an extension of the jab they had against the Predator for having standard, metric, torx fasteners. Get over it people, if your tool supply is that lacking in gear, Polaris was nice enough to include that nifty, well supplied tool kit under the seat.
There's a couple of "we think" jabs at the YFZ, which makes me wonder if the Honda factory reps paid them to critisize Yamaha's race bred offering. One of the stories following, was on modding the YFZ. Another "we feel" comment about pipe comparisons.....get them on the dyno people...I could care less what "you think". Also grow some onions if your thumb gets too tire to use a thumb throttle....they changed over to a twist due to fatigue. Someone wasn't a hockey player.
It's a nifty machine, why not give it the constructive review it deserves, not a "cat fight" comment fest.

So much for the New Year's resolution of staying off the soapbox....and yes, the copy of Dirty Wheels was left on the newsstand. Buy a dyno!

Modquad, I love to hate that ragazine.
I must admit it sure seems like each of the atv magazines have looked like carbon copies of each other the last few months. Same atricles, same reviews, it must be slow season for atvs.
I wonder what it costs to get t favorable review? A full page, color spread in each issue?
Thanks for the heads up, now I don't have to thumb through it.

You know what's funny about dirty wheels? Before I ever baught a quad or formed an opinion of what I liked, I could see the bias in this ragazine. Never baught the rag or any of their propaganda. I'll flip through it at the checkout, because let's face it they get to see some of the newest stuff out there before anyone else. But I still won't buy their rag. Dirtwheels and ATV Action are both owned by Hi Torque Publication. I used to have a subscription to both mags. They would run the same evaluations of a machine in each mag, but run the article a month apart. The wording was almost exactly the same, and the pics of the machines were almost identicle.

I never really got the impression that they were flat out biased against, or for, any certain manufacturer. Sometimes it seems that they love a machine when they do their first ride on it, but a few months later they have it in a shootout and pick it apart.

I still enjoy reading any and all atv magazines.

Yeah, both owned by the same company.
But... I happen to like them both. Yeah, they do the same reviews of the same quads, but so do all the others i have seen. There are only so many new quads that come out, so there isn't alot to pick from. I would like to see more polaris stuff being in there, but i still like it.
They print tons on readers letters, have some helpful tips about random stuff, and the advertisments in them are great. I use it as a way to find new companies producing new products.
I dont really know what a good atv mag would be, they compare new quads to ones that are already out, what else can they do?

Like Quadfather, I too like reading any and all atv mags.

I like ATV Sport BY FAR compared to the rest. There are a few "non popular" quad mags that I like to grab from the book/magazine rack in some stores once and a while because they seem to be honest about everything in there....... May be that's why they're not popular?

I have to agree with Quadfather. They do tend to pick quads apart after a few months. What once were its shining qualities soon become unforgivable oversights by the manufacturers.

one of the problems up here is that the magazines are no where to be found!
its hard to find em... i rarely see an atv sport.. and when i do i grab it... atv action and dirtwheels are hard to find sometimes too.
