1997 300ex

I am looking at a 300ex at the local honda dealer. They want $1950 for the quad, is this a good price? It is in awesome shape cosmetically as well as mechanically. And also how will this quead be for trail riding. It will mainly be ridden by my 15 year old brother when we go trail riding. the ole 110 just cant keep up with my Cat.

Just off of the top of my head that doesn't seem out of line. Go to www.kbb.com and look up what they say for a price so you will have an idea if its fair or not. www.kbb.com has a motorcycle link on the left of the web page.
oops after the fact your 15 year old brother will love this quad and will be passing you in no time.

Jjiggle the rear axle to see if its loose if you can and see how much adjustment is left on the rear chain and while your down there look and see how much brake pad you have left, stock pads have small dents so you can see when to replace pads. One of the big problems with the rear end occurs by the owner pressure watching and water getting past the rear seals which results in failure.
When I look at that picture I don't understand why they would have taken off the exhaust guards. another thing the 300ex is really good at wheelies and I wonder since the rear grab bar has been replaced by what looks homemade, has it been flipped over, handlebars replaced from stock. This machine might have been raced because it has a nice set of tires on it for a 300EX.
This machine is priced cheaper than normal for a reason so beware.
