Here's a story that made the front page of the local newspaper. It's about a 16 year old boy who wrecked when a 4 point buck jumped out in front of him. Luckily he was wearing a helmet. For those who are interested I've attached a link to the story. I thought it was a good story and the paper didn't take any cheap shots on ATVer's....one of the few times they don't.

This story proves a point....helmets do save lives. my only question is....how fast was he going?

 

The article doesn't say.....I can only say that I know first hand the dirt road he was on and being in a residential area I suspect he was doing about 25mph. However, I imagine that even if he was sitting still it would suck having 150 lbs of live animal hit you square in the chest. Again, I was glad to see the paper didn't take any cheap shots at him and slam the ATVer's.

My buddie hit a deer with his 400EX going wide open. Did $1000 worth of damage and needed a new pair or shorts.... I tapped the back leg of a deer with my DS650's front tire going about 80.... I loaded my shorts hardcore also.....

 

That was an interesting and well prepared story on the deer accident. The only time they get that much into anything ATV related around here is when they interview all the anti atv people from the state and tree hugger groups.

Good to hear he is doing better as well.

 

where is altoona at...never heard of this town?

 

A boy hit a Deer when I was living in Georgia about a year, year and half ago and it killed him.
this happened in Elberton, Georgia

 

Riding in Western Pa and eastern Ohio I have come accross quite a few deer while riding....a couple close calls...but it is fun to chase them
