Why is it that in XC racing that they have the motocross tracks? I thought XC meant just that run what is out their in the woods and fields that is made by nature. If there is another series other than gncc that has woods racing on natural terrain and not man-made can someone please tell me.

I agree that cross country racing should be what the name implies. I belive the difficulty race promoters have in actually staging a XC race is that it is harder to make money!
Spectators must have access to watch the races, (they pay for the right). It is alot easier to do this when they are "confined" to an area. The spectators will not buy refreshments if they have to hike half a mile. It is the track / race promoters responsibility to provide toilet facilities, health services, security, trail marking, cleanup, (and for "real" XC races: trail restoration), and lots of other things.
My point? I am not defending them for the fact that they are using a MX track for XC races, I am simply stating that if they were to run the race they way that you (and I) think that they should, they might have to do it they way its done out here in the west: (NOT AT ALL).
