Performance Opinion??
#1
I was just wandering how often everyone changed their spark plugs? I know that a new plug is always best but how long will a new plug give good performance (4-6 months, 1 year, etc.)

I changed mine last year just for the heck of it. I used an NGK plug too. I like to at least check it once a year. I will usually just clean it up with some carb cleaner and I also have one of those spark plug cleaners. But some sand paper should do the trick too. I have to change them more often on the Harley though. They like to get a little tempermental and foul out occansionly

I will change mine on my Scrambler any time I have to get under the gas tank or take the front plastic off. It's such a pain, to change that it's cheap insurance to do it then. The others get a new one yearly or if they start acting up.

Since I have both a 2 and 4 four stroke, I keep extra plugs for both. It's pretty easy access to them on mine. At 1.25 for a plug, it's just a cheap way to check and make sure it's running good. I usually check the 2 stroke after a weekend ride, and since I've got the socket in my hand, I'll check the 4 about every third time. On a funny note, my friends got a good laugh last weekend. Since my gear was stolen I didn't have my gloves on and I reached under the tank to take off the plug wire. As usual, laid my hand on the engine. They were impressed by the number of foul words and phrases I could put together in one breath. (note to self, make sure engine is cool next time)
