Yep, sounds like you got it off 1 tooth. after you get the valve cover back off and everything, first thing you do is get the flywheel mark lined up PERFECT, and if you got a TDC bolt USE IT! I didn't have a TDC bolt the last couple times I did it and it's a PAIN IN THE a$$ to get it right because the motor could turn over slighty while you're getting the cams lined up! Now if you don't have a TDC bolt, after you get your cams lined up and everything make sure the motor didn't turn at all by checking the mark on the flywheel. And make sure you check if the cams are lined up AFTER you put the timing chain tensioner in because it will move a little bit and can still be off if you don't check it. And make sure you double triple quadruple check EVERYTHING before turning the motor over otherwise you will be kicking yourself in the a$$ after bending some valves from slight stupidity..... LIKE I DID!

After you get the flywheel lined up, the cam lobes should be opposing each other and the lines on the cam gears should line up with each other through the chain guide.... Do you have a shop manual?

Look at the lines on the cam gears to see how far you're off.

NO NO NO! lol, the have to line up perfectly horizontal through the chain guide (black plastic piece between the cam gears). Man, don't bend no valves...

thebigshow,

Take it from me who F--- up a cam (look at last pic in my gallery). GET A SHOP Manual and take yourr time. If ya screw it up it will take longer and more $$$. It will be worth getting one in the end. I take it when you slap it back together your not using torque specs.
