Default 14:1 or 720???

Anybody got any opinions on which is better?

Pro's and Con's of each?

Any reliability issues with either?

What compression rates are available for the 720?

Will I notice a decent difference going from the 12.5:1 piston I have now to either?

I will be running alky with either.

Thats a loaded question! . Personally, if you get the race head then the 720 makes good horsepower. Otherwise, its pretty clear to me from the guys that run the 14:1, with a good tuned carb and ported intake manifold, and decent exhaust, we've seen stage II motors with a 14:1 generate up to 60 HP in here. Correct me if I am wrong.

depends if you can stop at 14-1, if that will give you all the power you will ever need. but then the new stuff keep geting better and better. might want to decide where you might want to stop at, first then decide.

well said Sandman. A company's products should be "new and improved" every year. If not, they're sitting on their past reputation and not doing further research and development. Everybody hates it when their top of the line product is no longer top of the line, but just like computers, the BEST companies keep getting better and better products out. And we have to keep buying them to stay on top of our game.

Very true 222. I know every time I call our builder (Mr. HP) he ALWAYS has somethng new in the works. Our 14:1 last year was very snotty.......and after speaking with Eric last weekend, I am sure the engine will be even more insane next year!

And speaking of the reliability of the 14:1.

I would have to say it really depends on your builder. The set-up is sound. Just make sure the assembly is too. We made over 650 passes on ours last year, and wouldn`t hesitate to do it again!

Sandman, that's the problem, I'll never WANT to stop. But at the same time I don't want something that may let go on a dune trip.

Can the 720 parts (sleeve and piston kit) be bought for less and get someone local to install sleeve so I can put it together myself??? I put a 440 kit in my old EX for less than $400.

Also how much are oversize valves and seats (parts only)??? Do they help a lot???
