2000 Wolverine wont start
#1
I have a 2000 wolverine the problam that i'm having is that when i push the start button all i get is the Hot light to come on and no starter. So far i have replaced the starter solenoid, the white relay under the seat and now i have the neutral saftey switch but it looks like you have to take the side of the engine off to get to it. Does any one else have any ideas of what i can do. I dont think it is the starter because i can touch the two post on the starter solenoid together and it will start right up. Any help would be greatly appericated.

Try pulling in the left brake (same side as the start button) while pushing the starter button. If the bike is in gear, this is required. Another thing to try is to make sure the "Run/Kill" switch is not in the "Kill" position. If you have already tried these things, I apologize, but sometimes people overlook the simple stuff.
Ride on (once you get it started).

Don't forget to check your ignition coil either. Mine did the same thing and I ended up putting a new ignition coil and for some reason it worked. My uncle hooked a volt meter up to it to see where it wasnt getting power and form some reason it was the ignition coil

You might want to check the parking break, it causes lots of problems. Although I havent heard of it causing problems similar to yours you might still want to check it out if all else fails. Just follow it down the stearing stem and unplug it. The plug is just below the plastic cover that has your lights and key hole.

Thanks guys for the info i will try to disconect the parking brake and see if that helps. I have tried to hold the brake while starting it but still nothing and the switch is also in the run position but that was good advice. As for the coil being th problem would your bike start still because i can still pull start my bike and also it will pull start in any gear. thanks for the imput.

If you have started your bike many, many times, it is possible that the contacts behind the starter button are finally worn out. If you have the bike in neutral, key on, Run/Kill switch in Run, it should turn over with the press of the Start button. If you hear a click from under the rear fender, your solenoid was activated and it is not related to the start switch, it is after the solenoid. But, if you don't hear that click, you are not getting enough current from the start switch to activate the relay. Track the wire back (smaller wire that terminates on the relay) towards the front of the bike. Odds are you have a pinched wire, or it has rubbed through and is shorting to ground.
