Default sparks exhaust/pilot jets

i have sparks exhaust jetted with dj 146/148 with k&n with pro flo adapter with the lid on stock pilot jets..
if i take the lid off, can i just put the 148/150 mains in without changing the pilot jets?
i've heard different things like go up to 25 or 27.5 pilot..
what if i leave the stock pilot?....how will i know if i need bigger pilots?
shouldn't it run fine with stock pilots?....most dealers tell me i shouldnt have to change them... any help would
be greatly appreciated....

I went to 27.5 pilots after removing my lid. It runs better with the 27.5's and it doesnt pop and backfire like it did on deceleration when I had the stock pilots. I've never tried the 25's. 148/150 mains is what mains I ran too; bike ran very well with this setup. Slim

tried 25s and 27.5s, 27.5s are way better for me, stuck with them and runs good with very little popping in the decel. mainly when its extremely cold outside.

jaraptor, If you are still undecided; Sparks reccommends 27.5 pilots for an open air box setup. Go 27.5's and you should be good to go. Slim

during decell with trottle closed if motor does not pop pilots are set correct. if it pops turn idle mixture screw out up to 4 turns. if it still pops you need 27.5's you can not tell any performance diff.
