97 scrambler 500 prob!
#1
I am working on a 97 scrambler 500 that wont start. I checked the spark and it is fine. It is a fuel problem I think.
so i took off the carb and cleaned it out. Still it wont start so i spray some gas in the carb and it started and ran a few seconds.
OK not getting gas. i bypassed the fuel pump so i know the carb has gas. still wont start unless i spray in gas. I held my hand over the intake side of the carb to choke it and it started but would not idle if i removed my hand. i could rev it up as long as i kept choking it with my hand. if i covered 90% of the opening of the carb it will idle and rev up. I also know that if you remove the air box cover it wont rev up but it will idle."Talk about detuned". The main jet is clean and so is the pilot. Did i mension this type of carb sucks! (Vacuum slide)
Any help will be appreciated Thanks Terry.
