Rejetting a 400EX

ok, i'm kinda new at this rejetting stuff, all I know about fourwheelers is the electronics and engine service, i can take my brothers Polaris 350L practically apart but i just heard about this rejetting the carb when i found this site, i run fourwheelers normally around 3838 Ft. and from 2,000 Ft. to 5,000 Ft., does anyone know what i should rejet it to and how to do it??? thanx

I'm not a jetting professional myself, but I'm pretty sure the stock jetting is usually good from 0-5000 ft elevation, so you shouldn't have to mess with it any.
If you really want to check it, just ride the quad through all the gears full throttle, then pull the clutch and kill the engine quickly. When you come to a stop, pull the spark plug, and if it's jetted right, it should have a slight brown tint to it. If it's rich it'll be darker (and you'll need a smaller main jet) and if it's lean the plug will be white (and you'll need a larger main jet)
Also, I believe the air screw can be used for slight compensation to changing elevations. It won't give you a perfect mixture, but it can help.
