I am fixen to orber the alba clutch kit and the alba high compression kit here in the next few weeks and thinking on going ahead and getting a carb so could someone let me know where i could find one for a decent price? The stock carb. can be moddified to enhance performance of the ds. Get intouch with Mr. Horsepower a member of the forums. He can help.
But if you want an aftermarket carb. go with what CountryJoe said, the 46hv lectron is what most Ds owners are leaning towards. The tm 45 is a good carb. from what people say but the 46hv is better.
Instead of getting the alba clutch kit you might want to look into getting Stiffer springs from either Ron woods or Pami. The springs help out alot and you can use stock clutches. I believe the ron woods 60% stronger springs are around 30 dollars and stock clutch plates and metals are around 120 dollars.

You might want to do a search on pistons on this forum before throwing your money to alba.
What is an Alba clutch? Keep in mind, Alba doesn't MAKE anything that I know of - they buy from someone else just like you.
If you can't afford THE carb that works, wait until you can! It will save you money in the long run.
Good Luck,

I rode & raced against a 2000 DS650 which has almost the exact same power modifications as my ATV short of one - the Lectron 46HV. On a good run up Olds hill at Glamis, the Lectron powered machine was beating my DS by 6 bike lengths and still pulling away at the top, not to mention he wasn't in the throttle all the way through the woops since he had to keep the front end from wheelieing! I think if that quad could have gotten a perfect start it would have beat me by 10 bike lengths - now that's POWER from just one modification!

there is a site www dot on-dunes dot com as well as http://www.mrhorsepower.net/. I've also heard you can get the same carburetor from Fast by Gast, though you'll have to tune it 100% yourself.

Fast by Gast does not sell the same Carb. They sell a straight through design carb. It is more for wide open throttle drag raceing.
The 46HV has a taper in the middle of the carb to give more torque, and better all around RPM's
The 46HV is only available through two vendors. They have been mentioned before.
I have both and like both for their applications. One is on a drag bike, the other is on my play bike.

Ahh alright.
That 46HV certainly impressed the hell out of me - a single mod that could get net a difference of 6 - 10 bike lengths on the hill is freakin' amazing. I really think MrDS650 coulda whooped my bike even more if he could have hammered his throttle more through the whoops.

Farbeit from me to come to the aid of Alba, but I will say that companies like Alba actually do a lot of investing, testing and yes marketing of parts. Because they sell many other parts, they have the CAPABILITY of picking and choosing only the best parts for thier market. Many of these companies LIKE Alba, also send thier customers that buy from them rebate coupons that allow unadvertised discount prices, some up to 20% off, on such things as premium ignition boxes, exhaust sytems and yes, even name brand pistons. So, if you are going to buy several parts, it can pay to have a partner that carries multiple items - even though they dont actually machine the item. Just a thought ....
