Ok, I am going to sound a bit foolish here. But what exactly is Canada Day? I have heard of it, and know it is a holiday for you guys above the border. But what exactly is it? What does it celebrate? Just curious.

Lurch...
It's Canada's birthday, the same as the 4th of July for you guys south of the border.

Like the 4th of July?

Hey, r34, I like Canada and Canadians; I've trained with Canadian military forces; I've hunted and vacationed in Canada.

That said, I'm going to kid and joke with my norhtern neighbors:

Like the 4th of July? In what year did Canada declare its Independence?

Sorry, r34, couldn't resist! But, we're still buddies, right? Now come on, put that down . . .

I thought it was the day that Canadians celebrated their disdain for Americans. From the Molson commercials and all other bashing that you northerners give us in our country. I know we deserve alot of it but can't we all just get along? Just kidding. I know this is why alot of Canadians have a foul taste for us down the continent, you feel that we don't respect and know enough about your beautiful country. If I recall, Canada Day celebrates Canada's peaceful break from Britain to become a country in its own right.Formally known as Dominion Day. How is that.

O.K.... I am going to go out on a limb here, because history is not my forte.
Treefarmer... no offence taken...
Chadwick is right, Canada declared it's independence from Britian 133 years ago, hence Dominion Day, now known as Canada Day.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but July the 4th is when the United States declared it's independence from England, having something to do with the Boston Tea Party I believe. Therefore, we share the same similar roots.
Chadwick... As far as the relationship between Ca. & U.S., don't believe what you see on TV.
Canadians certainly do not disrespect our southernly neighbors, as ultimately, our economies and ways of life, would most certainly not exist without each other.

I don't see what they have to be jealous about. Just because we have more riding places that we know what to do with. And tree hungers are pretty much ignored or joked about up here. Heck, I wouldn't be jealous LOL.

I only wish our prices where equal to that of the states. But I guess the politicians figure they could use the extra $$$$
