AVGAS !!!!!!

If you mean 100~110 octane I would guess that most people have, the highest I have ran is 110 and doubt it had any effect. The only reason I put that in my DS is because that's all we had after a long weekend.... If you mean JP fuels then I probably wouldn't because that stuff is just high grade kerosine..

Yes not only that but AVGAS is a LEADED fuel so It will cause deposits in your engine that are a pain to get out
I used to run it my 87 Grand National and worked great but I had to run cleaner through my engine ALOT

I tried a tank of aviation fuel with no apparent effects either way, just a white soot in my exhaust tips. It actually burns slower giving you less effective timing. Mr HP recommends running the least amount of octane you can get away with as it burns quicker.

Higher octane fuels actually will hurt performance if you dont have the compression to go along with it. The higher the octane the slower the burn time!

As has already been said, Aviation gas is leaded. It also contains methanol. What hasn't been said is that it uses a different octane rating system than DOT fuels. Av gas is actually very LOW octane compared to pump gas ratings. Stay away!

I'm gonna **** some people off here, but.
Are you guys joking?
Every time AVgas comes up every twelve year old on the planet comes out with a stupid rumor stating it as fact.
"Stay away from avgas!! It burns really dry and it will hammer your valves."
"It will cause deposits in your engine that are a pain to get out"

Where do you guys come up with this crap?
It will not "hammer your valves".
Deposits, If you get the old WWII 115/145 stuff you could get some lead fouling on the spark plug but not w/ 100LL.
Avgas does NOT contain methanol.
The rating system for avgas is a little different but AVgas is really about 100 octane, much better than pump gas.
The advantages of AVgas are
1 Octane, letting you run more compression, or higher boost. If you don't need the extra octane it isn't going to help.
2 Consistency, AVgas must meet a certain spec. and will be consistent from source to source, unlike pump gas which will vary in composition from season to season and pump to pump.
3 Storage, AVgas keeps longer than pump gas.
4 Cool blue color.
5 Usually cheaper than race gas.
The disadvantages are
1 Lead, will ruin O2 sensors and cats.
2 Lower vaporization, may be harder to start in very cold weather.
3 Availability, you have to go to the airport to get it.
4 Some 2 stroke pre-mix oils don't mix well with AVgas.
Sorry about the rant.
