Golft Cart ATV project?
#1
Well, I finally have time to do something I've always wanted to do. - Build an off-road golf cart. It sounds kind-a crazy, but I'm not the only one who thinks the same way. I while ago, I saw one on the side of the road for sale. Awesome. Lifted, two seater, high off the ground with= great ground clearance, and mud tires. I've seen some new ones for sale, but there not really what I'm looking for. Has anyone here built one? What kind of golf cart should I buy to use as a basis. It's sort of like a dune buggy, only smaller and taller. I plan on putting either a large ATV/Cycle or snowmobile in it. What should I look for in a golf cart frame?

may sound silly but could you plant just the cart bit on top of a subaru justy running gear?....they are a japanese small car with 4x4 and 1000cc of pure grunt!
do you guys get japanese import cars in the US?
they dime a dozen in NZ.....cheap.......we get some real interesting variations of different cars! japanese had a deisel of 4x4 version of every car they built!
sizuki samari 4X4 chassis and running gear?.....that way you get the limited slip diffs too......just a though

A friend of mine has a golf cart with a 440 yamaha snowmobile motor in it. Major advantage is no shifting. The friggin thing flies, about 60 mph. he said the main thing keeping him from going faster is the steering, not the motor. Going 60+ with steering that was designed for 10 mph may not be the smartest thing to do...keep that in mind, maybe fab some custom steering linkage or something.
