tips on drag racing(for the rematch)
#1
are there any other things to consider when drag racing the scram other than holding the brake and revving the engine on the take off for a good launch,i failed to do this in the last race i was in and i ended up loosing by a half-a-length in about 600-700 ft
i raced a 400 ex and a raptor on the same day, lost each race by about the same length(1/2 or 1 full bike length)the rematch is this weekend because i will have a new kevlar belt tomorrow around noon, the old one began to slip under heavy acceleration or going up a hill so im getting something stronger
any tips/suggestions on a drag race?

I start by leaning forward on the bike and gassing it. Hold the brake and give it just enough throttle until the belt just barely catches so you dont heat up anything. When you gas it the tires will spin just a little. As they do start coming back on the seat and it should go. a good balance will make it take off the best. Good luck.

the 23" tires might be lugging you down a little. Are they pulling the holeshot on you too? A rappy can accel. pretty quick. If you're pulling the holeshot and still losing, they just have more power!

the rappy i raced wasnt in tip top shape,in fact it was rather raggedy it was like whoever got the take off would win by that much(usually 1/2 or 1 full bike lenght, but i wasnt holding the brake and hitting the throttle so that may have been the reason i didnt get the hole shot,i saw the same 400ex race a banshee, the man on the banshee walked off 10 steps and gave the 400ex rider that much of a head start and he wheelied right past him through all the gears(the banshee looked pretty modded up-dual pipes and some other obvious stuff)it was funny to watch, needless to say i didnt race the banshee and i will be racing the 400ex and the rappy around noon today,i will post the results later tonight or sometime tomorrow depending on how long we ride today

i dont know if anybody is still checking this post but i raced the 400 ex again with the new kevlar belt and i could tell the difference instantaneous as soon i took off, that has to be the most throttle response i had in awhile
when we raced i held the front brake and revved the engine at the same time then when they said go i leaned forward and then backwards so the wheels could gain traction and we were neck and neck until the top end and i pulled on him with about 300-400 feet left and i did the infamous "look back"at him and the look on his was wasnt to good,we raced again in the middle of the road and i beat him from start to finish by about 3 bike lengths,my bike inpressed me very well yesterday, hopefully the belt will last and last and last because it has gained me alot of respect & publicity this weekend

Scramblerman... what mods have you done to the engine? If you don't have a Team industries secondary roller clutch you should get it, the difference it makes is unreal!! I've raced a 400ex and won with my 500 4x4 and that was before I installed the roller secondary clutch. I havn't race anyone sense I put the roller clutch on but I have a couple of Prairie's wanting to race.

tbsleeper... The prairie's I'm refering to aren't stock. One's a 650 which I beat last time we raced, and the others a moded 700 who's supposed to be pretty fast. For utility machines their pretty quick.
